Today is the last day in our Portland home before we set out on our trip and it becomes a rental. Our house is spotlessly clean and fairly empty, aside from the furnishings. Thankfully we found renters a few weeks ago that wanted the place furnished and were a good fit. It’s been bittersweet and strange to say goodbye to a house that we’ve lived in for five years now. It’s the house we renovated (hammers were thrown and paint was splattered), it’s where we learned landscaping is time consuming yet rewarding, it’s where Hurley grew up, it’s where Will asked me to move in with him (although I practically lived their already), it’s where we have preformed numerous house repairs and it is where we have grown through our 20s together. I know, I know… sappy, but in all reality the saying “home is where the heart is” stands true. We’ll miss the neighborhood and comfort of this house, but we are antsy to set off on our adventure. We won’t miss the responsibilities of the house, however… no more mopping up the leaky basement, raking leaves, weeding, cleaning the wood floors or fixing random things! Taking a vacation from home maintenance is going to be nice.
Now, is it time to go yet!? T-minus 7 days in counting!!!
